Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;

- Why the early bird gets the worm;

- Life isn't always fair;

- and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from

school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers:

Marketing 101 - Heart of Gratitude

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?"

The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way."

I wrote: "Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it."

An Indonesian, a Bangladeshi & a Malaysian

Suddenly the Indonesian finished his drink, threw his glass into the air and whipped out a pistol. The Indonesian shot the glass breaking it into small pieces and sat down. He said to the rest "In Jakarta glasses are so cheap we don't have to drink from the same one twice".

The obviously impressed Bangladeshi, finished his drink, threw his glass into the air and shot his glass into bits as well. He said "In Dhaka, we have so much sand to make glasses we don't have to drink from the same glass twice too".

How to get the Malaysian Government to pay your bills!

When was the last time you got something from the Malaysian Government?

Well actually...it wasn't too long ago when they decided to dole out cold hard cash in the tune of RM625 to us poor folks for the removal of the petrol subsidy. I'm not complaining.. :) Especially since the petrol priced dropped as though cars could run on water a few months after that. Haha!

Back to the topic, I was pleasantly suprised when I got my most recent electricity bill. Have a look...

Nice!!! I know you can't see the figures but basically my bill was "dibiayai oleh kerajaan malaysia".

Finally! I'm getting some of my tax money back. Catch is, I was out of home for most of the month, so it only applies when your bills fall below RM10 a month i think. No matter, just had to blog about the warm feeling in my heart i have knowing that my government cares about me...

So switch off those lights and the TV and start eating in the dark. You can finally have a family conversation instead of being glued to the TV. Plus its good for the environment too. =D

Top 20 Part Time Jobs and My Take on Em!

I've been a-strolling through the internet looking up part time work ideas and I was annoyed at a few things:
- my pessimism and/or;
- how unfeasible the ideas were.

Let me go through some of them and find my take below each:

1. Baker
In 1994, Jim Lahey started Sullivan Street Bakery after several years experimenting as a home baker. Today, his company, which has about $6 million in annual revenues and about 90 employees, is a New York City bread-baking institution.

Alright, all you need to do is do a quick Google search for cupcakes/cakes and the likes and you will find a ton of very yummy looking and affordable sites. The market is already saturated, so this is a futile effort to say the least!

2. Blogger
It's true that few bloggers make enough to earn a living—most make nothing at all. But if you can write well about a topic you're passionate about, you may develop a following, and with enough page views you can start bringing in revenue from ads.

Need I say more? Blogging, contrary to popular belief, can bring in the big bukhs if you are popular enough and devoted enough. Just look at this KennySia character, and scroll down to Item # 23. Bugger earned RM40 odd thousand, just from blogging! Goddamit, am wasting my life at my firm!

3. Book Keeper
Lots of small businesses need outside help with record-keeping, accounting, and other tasks. If you're organized, trustworthy, and proficient in bookkeeping software like QuickBooks, a small bookkeeping business may be right for you.

I tried to test this by putting some ads up, saying I am a Chartered Accountant and I undercut fees like mad! No news at all, partly because there are just so many of these ads to begin with. The second bit is probably because I think that you just need internal contacts for this, otherwise chances of being hired is pretty darn slim!

4. Computer Tutor

Whether you're an expert at Windows or Linux, desktop publishing or Web research, HTML or word processing, you can help anyone enhance their computer skills. Start promoting your computer-training services by teaching classes through organizations in your community which offer adult education courses.

I like! This could sell better than the usual tuition classes you see everywhere. All you have to do is brush up your computer skills (this of course could be a problem) and thereafter advertise and undercut like a true Malaysian ;)

5. Espresso Cart

Brew up profits day after day! Specialty coffee drinks generate gross profits of 55.1 to 61.5 percent per cup, says the Specialty Coffee Association of America. So brush up on your coffee drinks, buy or rent an espresso cart, and head for sporting events, concerts and farmers' markets in your community.

I like! The only problem I can see is licensing and approval to sell. Rather vague areas, but as a general rule of thumb, with the sale of food and drinks, you need some form of health screening. With regards to approval to sell, well I suppose a quick call is all you need to get verbal confirmation.

6. Garage and Attic Cleaning/Hauling Service

Nobody likes to spend a weekend cleaning out the garage, attic or garden shed--it's dirty and time-consuming, and when it's done, there's still the task of hauling off all that discarded junk. But if you don't mind putting in the physical labor, a cleaning and hauling service can be a lot of fun. You can usually find a few treasures among the trash which most people are delighted to give away, and you can add to your income by recycling bottles, newspapers and metal castoffs. You'll need a pick-up truck or other vehicle capable of carrying everything from cast-iron sinks to old timbers.

Not too bright. I wouldn’t go into any random stranger’s house, forget creepy attics and/or garages. This ladies (esp!) and gentlemen, is a no-go.

7. Handyman

If it's broke, you can fix it. Your phone will ring off the hook with calls from homeowners, senior citizens and others who don't want to fix it themselves. Advertise in shopper publications and on bulletin boards, and drop off fliers at real estate offices. Then start repairing everything from leaky faucets to broken windows.

I suppose this is do-able, should the above caution be thrown to the wind. Guys out there should have a knack for this. Just make sure you lug around a gigantic spanner or hammer as self-defense!

8. Home Inspection

Buyers need not beware when they hire a home inspector to conduct a complete physical checkup on their dream home. You'll inspect the house for structural problems and refer your clients to the contractors or handymen who can make the repairs. Knowledge of construction and your local building codes will get your business off the ground.

Again, I like! Get a rough list out of things to look out for, you have to do your research beforehand for you are likely to be called upon should a flaw surface later on which was existent during the time of your ‘field op’. Get the professionalism on even, furnish your clients with a glossy report.

9. Mobile Home-Entertainment Service

When it's dirty, disconnected or in need of repair, you'll save the day for homeowners who want their stereo, compact-disc player or videocassette recorder in working order. Brush up on your electrical and wiring know-how. Door-to-door fliers and calls to retail-store managers about your services will get your business off to a great start.

10. Mobile Window Tint

With some training and basic equipment, you'll be seeing plenty of green with your mobile window-tinting business. For best results, have a pager and van ready to help car, van and truck owners prevent heat damage to their vehicles' interiors. Other hot markets: homes, high-rise condominiums and office buildings.

I like! It’s crazy prices out there for a professional tint job and we Malaysians just love our tints don’t we? If business picks up, you can start sub-contracting. Again, undercut, undercut, undercut!! (My fav biz tactic , which by now you would have noticed)

11. Office and Home Organizer

Attention all neatniks: Help packrats, overworked executives, and other organizationally challenged individuals clean out messy closets, straighten files, and throw out the excess clutter. Putting your knack for neatness to part-time business use is bound to arrange some tidy profits for you.

I have my reservations about this, as per #6. However, this is pretty new and I suppose while it could pick up well, it is more likely to see you falling flat on your face. Having said that, there is no capital outlay or any form of loss apart from time spent advertising. The best type of biz to fail in!

12. Personal Chef

What's for dinner, honey? Great home-cooked meals for working parents and busy professionals who hire you as a personal chef. There's plenty of demand for this specialized service. So plan your menu, make out your shopping list, and go to work to satisfy your hungry clientele.

We are talking part time businesses here, which my clients are likely to be too busy to feed themselves or their family during the week, the same would go for me now wouldn’t it? If we are talking weekends, am guessing more people than not would be free to feed the family. I don’t see this picking up too great, unless you get lucky and cater to those who work weekends as well.

13. Personal Trainer

Pumping iron; pumping profits. Americans of all ages, sizes and shapes want to keep fit, trim and healthy, and they're willing to hire their own personal coach to exercise correctly. Spread the word about your physical-fitness expertise at health spas, running, swimming and biking clubs, and other athletic outlets.

Brilliant idea, if you have the bod to sell your pitch first!! If you look anything less than a Angelina Jolie/Mark Walbherg, then forget it!

14. Picture Framer

Get in the frame with a picture framing service. You can work with gallery owners, artists, portrait photographers and individuals who've purchased a print, painting or fine photo. If you aren't already a framing expert, read up, take classes at a local college or community center, then assemble your tools--including clamps, saws, miter boxes, glue, and a pneumatic or hand stapler. Establish relationships with local artists' groups, galleries, photographers and print shops that can give you their business or refer their customers to you.

Do-able I presume. Of course, with practice your deliverables will improve and word of mouth will do you good. Having said that, you might have to offer some kind of guarantee or collateral for the paintings you are framing just in case you do a boo-boo. Hence, in accountant speak, you run high contingent liabilities.

15. Plant Leasing And Maintenance

Got a green thumb and a delivery van? You're all set to service corporations, home builders, health clubs and other businesses who want fresh greenery. Develop a steady clientele with a regular watering, pruning and fertilizing program and a full replacement guarantee.

16. Records Search

Using specialized databases, you'll search public records on your computer to help your clients find lost loves, check out questionable suitors, track down debtors, verify a contractor's track record, or dig up facts on a business opportunity. Sounds fun, I like! Of course, only for the creative. Then again, art boils down to perception and different people connect to different things. So you never know, you might be a T-Shirt Da Vincci! (I never understood the Mona Lisa, so there!)

He was America's boy wonder. He cut that squeaky clean image that Clinton failed to, even before his scandal blew up!

I was unconvinced on Woods' infidelity. I heard stories of his wife chasing him out of the house with a golf club and all that jazz - but dismissed it as gossip. This is Tiger Woods people, golf extraordinaire! Then I heard of the scandals and I was thinking - ah, the plot thickens!

Then today, i succumbed to curiousity and trawled the internet to get more information. CBS News has an interesting section of the site called - Crimesider which has all the juicy details for those interested. (on a side note, infidelity = crime?)

However, what has most certainly put all my doubts to rest was Mr. Wood's very own confession on his site. It was certainly heartfelt and any human being worth their salt would thereafter respect his request for privacy.

This being Malaysia, I agree the topic for today’s post may be somewhat controversial. I may be deemed immoral (never argued otherwise in any case) or spreading the devil’s ways. Maybe I exaggerate. Then again, maybe not.

I stumbled across this site, My Intimate Lingerie, while I was on petalingstreet.org, and I had a quick look through of what the site has to offer.

Viral marketing buzz - Malaysian? Or not?

Hmmm, I think there's a marketing guerilla team out there trying to create a buzz for an ~~artiste/website/telecom/ISP/software~~ ...uh....something. From the looks of things, its concentrated in Malaysia..

And from the looks of more things they seem to be getting some success...top 3 news item on The Star newspaper in fact. Heck I even saw it on the 8pm news!!!

Apparently, an envelope is dropped off at media companies with no details of sender containing a CD with the song "Through My Window", a URL everyoneconnects.net & the invite "open for collaborations". Totally no further details provided...guess its purpose is to tempt us curious kats to find out more. Usual Malaysian lah~ :)

Online gossip seems to point towards a company being behind this campaign. I tend to agree....is come local band gonna ask for collaborations like this? Eh, just post up ~~illegal~~ posters or on forums la. Or maybe its a terrorist organisation seeking recruits?! Nasib baik envelope takde anthrax....Horrors...:O

My guess is, it's a local telecommunications company....but that's just me.

Uuuu~ Foie gras, the oh so difficult to pronounce, oh so adored food in french cuisine. I've always wanted to try it once to taste for myself what others are all raving about. Foie gras translates into "fatty liver" cos that's what it is; the enlarged liver of a goose (of a duck for the not so authentic version).

Well recently, I got myself an email that's been making its rounds highlighting the darker side in the production of foie gras. Let's see some of the not so pretty pictures:

There are laws already put in place to ban production and sale of foie gras in California from 2012 onwards. Several other countries are contemplating similar laws too but France being the largest producer doesn't seem to be making any such moves. Websites lobbying to ban the practice of force-feeding have sprouted up to increase awareness of the cruelty involved. Have a look.

Unfortunately, I think that those activists could face some setbacks in their effort. A friend happened to pick up a lifestlye magazine while in Beijing and in the magazine there was an article on this matter. The author mentioned the impending ban.....and went on to suggest trying it before the ban is put in place!! OMG?! Isn't the author supposed to educate the masses? I just hope that foie gras doesn't catch on in China...*fingers crossed*.

Looking at these pictures, I'm rethinking my intention to try this food item. Guess I'll pass despite being a foodie and serious carnivore, thank you very much. I hope you do too!

Have Some Self Respect and Stand Up to Bullying!

A repeat occurrence of a particular incident at my workplace has prompted me to write this post.

A particularly senior member of management has been rather offensive to raise her voice at the staff regarding a fault that all but herself know it management's.

It annoys me greatly that these victims merely sit and take the abuse rather than justify themselves to that senior management personnel. More importantly, they do not put their foot down and demand some respect!

Yes, demand that respect. No one can treat you any other way than you allow yourself to be treated.

There is always a better way to address issues, hence know your boundaries. The minute you take offense at how you are treated, take a step back and evaluate the situation. Ask yourself:

should he/she be raising her/his voice at me?
should he/she be calling me names? (e.g. stupid, lazy)
did I give her/him permission to speak freely?

When the answer to any of the above is NO, you then know that the treatment you are receiving is unacceptable.

What do you do then? Sit there and wallow in self-pity? No, YOU stand up for your rights!!

The root cause of bullying at a work environment, on part of the victim that is, stems from the lack of the victim's confidence and self-respect. The minute the victim takes a more vocal stance, you can bet your bottom dollar the bully will play it down thereafter. That is IMHO of course.

I have never been subject to any bullying before because I have way too much self-respect for that. The minute anyone gets out of line in treating me, rest assured I will scream bloody murder and make sure the 'bully' knows I do not appreciate the tone nor the choice of words.

That is exactly what more people need to do. Realise your rights and stand up for them. After all, what is the worst that could happen? You lose your job? If your employer bullied you to begin with, it's a blessing in disguise I say! Besides, I believe you have a case under Wrongful Termination ;) Make a quick buck out of it why don't you ;)

I read this article in TheStar with much interest, apparently our neighbour wants to invade and take over Malaysia.

Well I do think it is unlikely, having said that, it still deserves at least increased national security. I would like to think that our government would take ANY threat seriously.

I can't help but wonder however, is the reporter who wrote the article in TheStar going to be the first head Bendera wants on a platter? His article did an excellent job of ridiculing everything Bendera stands for.

My Take on 1408 and It Ain't Pretty

Ye Gods, why did I even bother when I saw that it was based on a book by Stephen King? I never liked the guy’s work, it was abstract horror that just did not pull at my strings.

Watching the movie, well, there were times I was a lil scared (who doesn’t get a lil startled at the sudden disconcerting images and the sudden increases in volume), there were times I was dead bored, there were times I thought I might sleep off (like, seriously!) and there were times I thought perhaps I should take the express check out the lady over the phone was suggesting to John Cusack. (for those who din watch the movie, she was asking John to play the hangman in Hangman).

Absolutely nothing good came out of the movie apart from this rant. Absolutely nothing impressed me in that movie, looked like a low budget movie, and if anything was meant to have the horrifying element – I call dibs on cinematography!

I cannot believe how RottenTomatoes could possibly have given the movie a 78%.Thank God I had a few episodes of Entourage to save the disastrous night!

Be forewarned folks, this isn't for the faint-hearted!

I was reading newsoftheworld today and I laughed out loud at this jock's odd ways. Ok I say, some of you might find it charming (boy, I can't imagine!).

Anyways, the guy apparently (see how I cleverly avoided a lawsuit there, haha, kidding) likes to wear thongs with elephants on the front. So you can guess what the spare space on the elephant's trunk is used for.

I mean, how can I put this nicely, why oh God whyyyyyy would anyone do that??!!!
That's such a turn off!!!!

I had to blog this because I remember a colleague and myself once walked around this mall in Malacca, and stumbled across a shop that should really be strictly for adults. There my colleague saw the said thongs and the many variations to it and very quickly pointed it out to me, offering to buy it as a present for me. I, of course, refused! I doubt much would get done should one use that, for I know I for sure would probably die from laughter!

Digression alert - while you might think death by laughter is impossible, wikipedia has a list of historical and modern deaths attributed to laughter. I strongly suggest those are in need for twisted humour to read it!

Curiosity Satisfied - Nude Beaches~

Naturists. That's what they, or shall I say we, are called. Ok maybe not myself, I was just satisfying that curious alter ego within.

It started simple, I had too much time on my hands and I let the mind wonder. I thought about Google Earth and how cool it was to be able to see the world from you very own room. I tested Google Earth and I liked what I saw, though a lot of the images were outdated. Then

I tried searching for a Nude Beach just for the heck of it (I have a very random mind, as you might deduce right about now) and I'll leave the findings to those who are as curious enough to try, as the search was educational, haha.

Anyhoos, my interest was piqued. I have to say Air Asia played a part as well, they encouraged my travel adventure to the nudist beach (way to go cheap-ass flights)! Let's be politically correct here, it's a Clothing Optional Beach. There is a difference folks, and I will give you a moment to think of the wording to find out the difference. If you can’t, I have no patience for lack of common sense. Let Google answer your questions.

The more conservative among us out there are probably shaking their heads right now and commenting on my loose morals, but I am just becoming one with nature (hahah, a familiar pitch eh?). The first piece of clothing was invented approx 100,000 - 500,000 years ago (taken from here) and you could be darned sure the people before that were happy danglers!

I digress. Point being, I flew off to The Land Down Under (Australia for the ignoramuses out there) and found myself and a couple of Australians at Samurai Beach, Port Stephens (again, for the benefit of the ignoramuses - Port Stephens hosts the Annual Nude Olympics every September).

For obvious reasons, there are no pictures in this blog. Am sure the pervs out there would find a way to get a glimpse anyway! Having said all that, I reached and whilst I tried not to gawk, it's hard. Firstly, there are the really really really hot ones there, and I am a girl but the sight 'free bouncers' is enough to justify my stares (gotta lurve my shades btw). Then the men, well, the men weren't nearly as delicious but it made the trip worth!

On to the gross bits, there are old folks being one with nature as well. I love old folks and all that jazz, but am not getting into any details in this post. Let me suffer alone, fellow readers. ~shivers~

Etiquette. No photography, no gawking, no lewd behaviour! Remember, nude but not lewd! So if you are planning a trip and the sight of ladies’ bouncers and men’s danglers make you need to get your groove on, you are in for trouble! Mind you, this isn’t the place for pervs, these people actually take the term ‘free and easy’ to a whole new level.

Of course part of the etiquette is that if you are there, then you just have got to strip down as well. It’s just plain rude otherwise. While I had my reservations, there is no better place to do it then in a land of strangers [the naturists I went with were strangers as well ;)]! Having said that, the women have it better than the men, for we can choose to just take the top off (which isn’t half as bad as the men!).

Well as reserved as I was initially (hahaha), I just made a quick beeline for the waters and there I had a true comfort blanket! I warmed up to the idea a lil later on, 3km of nude folks and some truly questionable nude bodies helped ;)

Would I do it again? I don’t see why not but personally, I’d prefer being clothed, but was the experience worth it – YOU BET!!

Btw, during my absence I also tried my first online order of a Durian Cheese Cake (the chilled type). I Google’d it after a friend mentioned it to me and I saw two promising websites – FatBoyBakes and CheeseTease. The latter was by word of mouth and it is obviously the underdog between the two, and I decided to take the road less traveled as, well, why the hell not? ;)

It was pretty darn good I must say, absolutely sinful. But the best part is – I made a friend in the JC team behind CheeseTease (the benefits of small time businesses!), and C has agreed to be a guest blogger on Killer Hamster’s page re her recent HK trip! So stay tuned!

(btw, I din take any pics of the durian cheesecake as you can't put a freakin candy in front of a kid and expect the kid to not eat it rite? So yea, I stole a pic from their blog..haha)

Here's the deal - I read that the Snow White represents cocaine and those tiny men around her are all inspired by the stages of cocaine addiction.

So if you are a cokehead and you get your dose of SNOW WHITE, you are gonna get SLEEPY, HAPPY, GRUMPY, DOPEY (a personal fav~), BASHFUL, SNEEZY then you head to the DOC.

Man I just love these hidden interpretations! True or false, who on earth knows apart from our dearly departed (he has departed, rite?) Walter Disney!

How did it become like this? How did a simple exchange of ideas become a battlefield? How did my concern for him turn against me?

I never was good with relationships. Nothing went for more than 2-3 years and I thought that this was different. But this year has been turbulent and it feels like a whole year's arguments when only half a year has gone past! Does that even make sense?

It's never like the movies, that I tell you. He never came back. He walked out that door. I was a fool, I thought I heard him step in again, but alas - was just my imagination.

I know tonight is going to be a long night for I know myself. I will just worry endlessly till I hear him return (and a couple of false alarms as well I am sure), for I do not have that 'OFF' switch men do. I do not compartmentalise well enough.

Am all gung-ho about head over emotions but when it comes to moments like this, am afraid to gather around all the courage I have to to just say I don't care and shove the emotions aside. I am afraid if I can do it just that easily, then I don't care as much as I should anymore. I don't want that to happen. I never want that to happen to a relationship I cherish this much. Love should hurt during the rough times.

But he walked out that door. He walked out that door to a party and I am stuck at home with no one, no car, no transport, nothing. Times like this I wish more than anything to let the hurting stop, to let me focus on what I should be doing instead of continuously replaying it in my mind.

But the point wasn't really that he walked out, I asked him to go on if he really wanted to. But I would have thought he'd be back early, to work things out with me. That there'd be some balance. But solitude is my only friend right now.

Every single argument is destructive. I wonder if all relationships in the world is like that? If only it was like college. I'd run over to a girlfriend's room for comfort. For company. Maybe I don't reach out enough these days. People think I am a brick that can handle anything but I have my weak moments and right now, there is no one.

I tried desperately to get a friend to meet me today, tomorrow, or in the next few days. However she was on an all-time high and just kept saying she had this to do and that to do, and laughing and giggling. Couldn't she see that I was reaching out? Couldn't she see that this wasn't like me at all? Do I have to say - I need you? Maybe. I didn't think so though.

I've always wanted to be independent. I wanted to soar high and let no one hold me back from what I want. But I am not, I am 24 and I am still stuck in a rut because I do not try hard enough. Why do I not try hard enough? I have constructive obligations in all my relationships right now, at least the top few relationships.

But he walked out that door. For better or for worse, till death do us part. Bleh, nonsense. It isn't like the movies and any vow, forget wedding vows, are never kept when the situation calls for it.

I spoke to my mother today. She wanted to walk out on my dad. She has also said that all my life, from as far back as I can remember.

Lesson : People can be stuck in a rut for as long as it takes for them to bite the bitter pill and move on.

Broga Hills

It was an early Saturday morning when a bunch of us decided, Broga Hills it is. I've heard much hype about this place and I can sacrifice a Saturday morning's snooze to find out!

We left early, which in hindsight was a good move for it gave us room to get lost and find our way again..lol. My only advice on direction would be to head towards Nottingham University and then to follow the many cars you will see and think as odd for such an ungodly hour ;) You will then see a bunch of cars parked by the main road, and that's your stop.

Oh and if you do intend to go, word of caution - do not wear shorts as mosquitoes are aplenty! Bring a torchlight if you are heading up before dawn breaks.

So anyway, this was a first for me. I thought I'd do alright as I can't bring myself to imagine that I am not fit enough! I started out strong and steady and confident as hell that this was gonna be a walk in the park. Dead wrong. Within ten minutes, I was breathing hard and short breaths. I hated the steep bits as I was so afraid I'd be falling flat on my face and slide downhill!

Boy, was I glad there were places where they were human traffic congestion, for it gave me a minute or two to catch my breath.

Credit goes to my mate for hoisting me up a few areas. Lol.. Next time I will run up like the other guys!

Well was it worth it? I won't lie. Many times the thought crossed my mind - I could have been in bed. What was I thinking? However, I'll let the following pics speak for themselves :)

As an afterthought, if I keep this routine up trice a week maybe I'd get that Megan Fox body. But then again, who am I kidding, I can't even get my bum to gym when I have a gym in my condo!

My Favourite Face Mask/Scrub - Yogurt!

It's a lovely Saturday, or rather Sunday morning and being quite the night owl, I prance around wondering what to do :)

Then I decided to pander to my face's well being and decided on my favourite and the cheapest and not to mention the easiest mask/scrub ever!

You see, when I was growing up, I rarely went out and I was quite the tomboy. The internet was pretty much my gateway to anything girly and I used to read up on DIY beauty treatments. This is one that stuck in me mind for it works and it's easy ;)

Now seems to be the best time for this mask, working life makes my skin so tired looking and dull. This, my darlings, is an instant pick me up~

The ingredients are as follows:

# 1 : Yogurt - plain (not the non-fat/low-fat types)

# 2: Sugar

# 3 : Lemon Juice

# 4 : Honey

So all you have to do is to mix together 1 tsp of yogurt, 1 tsp of honey and tsp of lemon juice.

Yogurt helps smoothen the skin and gives it a glow. It's good for all types of skin, esp those with pimples!

Honey of the other hand acts as a moisturiser and tightens the skin as well. Honey also has antibacterial properties, so hey, it's better than applying Dettol on the face!

Lemon juice has been used for ages as a natural bleach. It basically lightens up the skin and though some skins are sensitive to it, used with honey your skin should be alright as honey has anti-inflammatory properties.

Now that you've combined the 3 ingredients, you can apply it on your face as a mask and leave it till it tightens before you wash it off.

If a scrub is your kinda thing, then add the sugar in only after you mix the above, otherwise the sugar might dissolve as you lose your scrubbing mechanism!

Of course, as always, test an area of your skin first before you apply generously as below :)

Well happy masking away folks and use this mask for 3 weeks every night or every alternate night and I guarantee you'll see results!

I've more DIY beauty tips that I know work but perhaps some other time, for I need to wash of me mask now =D

I always was on the fence about blogging. The previous 4 posts that I actually did do was 2 years ago! I think it’s time I gave it another go, plus this could actually be therapeutic.

What was my fear to begin with?
- my blog would be judged to be below par for what is considered a good blog
- I lost my flair for English that I had when I was in school (I blame audit)
- I don’t know what to blog about!

Well am going to overcome this fear! Wishful thinking, worry and fear is all passive. If I want to know for sure if I can do it, I have to try.

That is what this blog is about and I intend to blog about anything and everything. This blog is for me and it's all about that picture right there...

It’s a beautiful morning, apart from the humdrum from the construction site opposite where I live.

I seem lost in thought today. I miss my truest friends. I miss regarding some of them as the truest friends! It’s a bit of a trade-off, my circle of friends are smaller but certainly more cohesive, as opposed to college days when I knew pretty much everyone. The quest for education has put certain boundaries that you just can't overcome 100%.

That is life though, as we go on we all move apart in search for our dreams, or at least to find our path. I remember hanging out in our college's very own (cheap?) imitation of Starbukhs with my best two girls, just talking about our day and laughing and stuffing our faces with ice-cream. I would give just about anything to have another one of those days!

It’s a Sunday afternoon. I decided to take a break from my finance books to enjoy the essence I place on a slow Sunday. I can’t say it’s quiet, the sound of traffic has become part of the background noise in my place.

Humming along to ‘Home’ by Michael Buble, I yearn for happier times. Perhaps that isn’t the most appropriate reflection of my innermost thoughts. Rather, I yearn for carefree times. The times when I was ignorant to all around me. The times where there wasn’t constant thoughts in my mind of what need be done by when and what awaits me.

Ah, yes. Those times when it was effortless is long gone. I keep reminding myself that that state of mind can be recreated, life as I see it is after all how we chose to take it. It takes constant effort though, but I shall persevere. It will make me a better person, to deal with life unruffled.

To all 'em good people out there :)

I’m in a good place right now. Today has been one of those days that I thank the good Lord above for some of the fantastic people that are around me.

This morning started with much anxiety as I had to tackle one of the most difficult sections in audit, tax. At least I find it the most difficult! From my previous experience, I know tax can be quite a handful and I have never quite managed to get it right. It was noon, and still being unable to do it, I called for help.

A*, despite rushing for some prior arranged appointment took time out and tried to give me a crash course. I have to say about 70% of it hit home, but upon him leaving, the remaining and perhaps most crucial 30% wrecked havoc! I looked around myself, there were loads of people, but it was a Saturday and I guess no one wanted to be in office, but they are here cause they just have to. I just couldn’t bring myself to ask for help.

Credit goes to my J* for always being there. Despite being hundreds of kilometers away, he tried his best to help me and that I shall always remember. He understood perfectly well how upset I can get which will work its way up to being tensed and then to the extreme end of being disturbed.

Hours of trying, and even M* attempted to help but her own work beckoned. I do appreciate that caring thought though. Finally, I plucked up the courage to ask for help. I asked AA* and without giving any excuse of being busy, he came over and spent about an hour trying to fix it. After which he gave me a suggestion and *snap* things were perfect!

I truly appreciate the good people I work with and who are willing to take time off their own busy schedules to help the weaker ones. It is incidences like this really touch me and makes me reconsider my serious thoughts on ……………. (heehee).

Sometimes we get so caught up in life and work that we overlook the good that life offers. My department can be insanely busy at times but some of us never fail to offer that helping hand that goes a long way.

I will never forget today, with all the help and guidance I received today, I write this with such content that life is indeed beautiful. Would those that helped me today ever know how much that few hours meant to me? Probably not, but am hoping should they read this, they would.

I will make a conscious effort today forth, to pluck out the good in life. To leave the ugly behind. To play my part in being part of the good in others life. We should always pass the baton, shouldn’t we?

Due Paranoia

Living in KL has gradually become increasingly scary. I am a 22 year old girl with a decent job earning an equally decent pay, but requires me to travel a lot and come back pretty late into the night. Alright, I am an auditor! Let me not get started on that, at least not now. What I was leading on to was the fact that every single day, I live in fear. Some say I am paranoid, but let me state my case and you be the judge, because I believe I have good reason to be!

My department and the general office as a whole (we have twelve floors averaging a hundred staff on each floor) have very caring staff who, as soon as they get it, will forward e-mails about the horror stories around KL and Selangor. The frightening bit is that two out of ten of these stories actually happen to our staff itself! So you know these are not mere stories to infuse fear within others. These are real incidences. These are real people.

I think a lot of people lead sheltered lives. I know for a fact that I have. Then the career-driven personality within me saw me moving to KL and consequently, as I write this, filled with rage over the existing state of things and as well as fear for myself.

Out of the top of my head, let me just rattle on about a few incidences that particularly made me write this. I recently met one of my closest girlfriends for dinner. Just a week back she told me she was robbed and meeting her that night I was utterly shocked to see her hand. I knew she was slashed but I had no idea how bad it was and that it needed a good few stitches!

Here’s the kicker, she was robbed in front of 7-11 in Brickfields at 2.30p.m. No typo there, it was in the afternoon and yes, it was in Brickfields. That place is one of the busiest places I know yet this is not a story, this is real. This friend of mine is now scarred for life, not only does she have to deal with that, she is psychologically scarred! The very thought of is sends chills through me.

Observation 1: Being a girl and alone, you can get robbed even in broad daylight, in the busiest of streets.

My colleague’s brother recently left his office around midnight and headed for home after a long hard day of work. So that is it for the day right, go back and get a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately, this was not the case for him. Instead he had an eventful night whereby he had a couple of ‘Mat Rempits’ (‘he who speeds’, my literal translation. Interesting how this ‘phenomenon’ suddenly came about, and how notorious they can be!) following him. They had this baseball bat and they smashed his window, but my colleague’s brother managed to speed away to safety, thank God for that! This is definitely not a story, as my colleague took pictures of his brother’s car to spread caution amongst the rest of us.

Observation 2: It is not just the ladies being preyed upon.

Now we all know how some mothers can be, exaggerating to the high heavens just to illustrate their point. However when my mother told me about her friend’s daughter who was car-jacked (once again, interesting how I have never heard of car-jacking before in Malaysia. Notice in my opening paragraph I used the word gradually and how it is making sense?) en route to Puchong on the highway and that she was hurt and her husband was slashed all over with a parang and required an operation that cost a hefty RM7,000, I knew this was not one of those stories as I know this friend of hers, and I know this daughter of hers.

Observation 3: In the comfort and perceived safety of your car, a female with a male counterpart, can get car-jacked and ‘sliced up’ with a parang.

Sub-observation: Female need not be alone for the above scenario, in fact a single driver would be the most likely target.

I recently moved into my newly acquired condominium and everything was pretty hunky-dory. Then my very observant neighbour (thank God she is!) was kind enough to share with me that I should be careful about leaving my bathroom windows open as in the year that just passed, there was quite a number of theft cases, entry by way of bathroom windows. I was dumb-founded, I live on the sixteenth floor! How could thieves possibly pull that off? Nevertheless daddy dearest had grills put on the bathroom windows and I sleep better at night now.

Observation 4: In the, once again, perceived sanctuary of your home, you are still likely to be victims of theft.

These are just among the few instances, but tell me, am I wrong to be paranoid? Here is the question that begs to be answered: ‘ In what situation can I be safe, because luck alone is just not going to be enough!’

I believe I am not the only individual with such strong feelings of fear embedded within myself. I believe the society on the whole is becoming one that is constantly fearful for their safety. Is this a conducive environment to raise a family when you yourself cannot be certain of your own safety?

Need I bring up the cases of 6-8 year old girls being abducted and sexually assaulted, assassinations at point-blank range with newspapers reporting that it is the work of professionals. Malaysia has professional hit-men now? Maybe I was naïve when I felt safe in this country years ago. Are these inevitable with our growing economy or are those in charge of ensuring we are safe slacking in their duties? It is absolutely sickening what has become of this city, this country, in terms of the citizen’s safety.
